Neglect

My 40D is staying in....it is too cold. It is way too slippery and snowy and  I am too clumsy. Besides, I have neglected my little Canon point and shoot far too long. Charged up her little battery, put in a new little teeny memory card (only 256MB!!!! as compared to my big girl CF cards) and shoved her in my pocket.
But not before setting her up with manual settings...c'mon you gotta do this right people. What a great little camera she has been. Took her to Venice last year, and in November, a cooworker of mine borrowed her for a trip to Africa.  The point and shoot definitely has a place in every photographer's bag of tricks, particularly when travelling, or in interesting weather.
Wow! Just a  beautiful morning despite the frigid cold.
Sometimes I think snow is to dogs what catnip is to kitties.

Sophie sweet Sophie

She is my little princess...
those eyes tell you everything.
Well, all that you really NEED to know such as:
"I hope we are going out"
or "I hope you will snuggle with me on the couch like I love"
or "I love you"
Oh, I wish everyone could see these twinkly eyes in person....
Happy snowy Monday!

Boston Bruin

He is adorable....
mix of black lab and shepherd. J and B brought him home from Rhode Island just a few weeks ago and are madly in love with him. His name is Bruin.
Took him out to meet his friends, Zach and Sophie yesterday. Not the greatest of weather days here on the sandbar but we still had a great time.
He is very intelligent, very attentive and a lovebug.
Can't wait to watch this little guy grow up.

birthdays

Happy 40th to my brother, John....architect extraordinaire, living it up this weekend in Dublin.
Have a great time!
This week my Charlotte would have turned 14.
Many feelings have surfaced, resurfaced, you name it.
I fought against posting about her and posting some photos I found, but knew that it would be helpful for me to do so. Not to mention, I think these photos are adorable.
In the top photo, she was 9 weeks young. In the middle, she was introducing sister Sophie to her way of life. In the last, she was playing with little Maria B...ever so gentle and ever so sweet.
I  crazy miss her.

mornings

I have grown to love the early morning.
Although I believe the light to be even more gorgeous in the late afternoon and early evening, sunrise is just so beautiful.
Focusing on many new things for Charlotte Carey Photography, including a new blog home, a new logo (yeah!!!!) and some upcoming shoots of children with two legs, not four.
Some of my most awesome fellow pet photographers and I have decided to try to capture some moments each day, even if it means grabbing the camera to shoot other stuff besides animals and people.
Here are some recent photos that I enjoy.
Will post from my shoot today later in the weekend....a sweet lab/shepherd mix named Bruin.
Have a great weekend.

snow play sequence

Part of the reason I will change to a different blog soon is so that I may post different templates, sort of a cyberspace storyboard if you will.....
Here is a little sequence from New Year's Day in the snow.
For those of you who were interested in knowing if he loves snow like his sister, I would have to say "proof is in the pudding". Check out that little grin on his face in the first photo...made me laugh out loud.

Millie et al.......

We had so much fun that afternoon. Four dogs, one auntie of said dogs, one  fabulous 18 year old photo assistant who was amazed by all the puppy madness, and quite the wind chill. Yup, great beach day as far as I and THEY were concerned. Millie was the leader of the pack that day as you will see in the top photo running with the only ball I brought that day (silly girl....4 dogs, one ball?!!??). Brother Buddy tried to be "top dog" but that did not last very long. Even Betty, the sweet Jack Russell had a great time.
These photos were taken as a surprise for two very special doggie parents. I am very lucky to be in the company of people who adore their dogs and believe the bond we share with our animals is incredible.
I am so happy to hear that they loved their surprise.

Happy 2009

We ventured out for some quick play (and very quick photos taken very clumsily in many layers of clothing). The pups loved the first day of 2009...snow, brisk air (!!!!!) and Mommy falling down, all makes for a great day for them.....
Hope you all stay warm. I am glad I received cashmere and Smartwool for Christmas.
