Sweet beautiful Emma

I am so sad....I am devastated to report that on Christmas Eve, sweet Emma,
AM/CAN CH Deblin's Call Waiting, STCA HOF,
lost her battle with cancer.
My heart goes to Deb and Charlie as I know how devastated they are.
She was so full of life, so strong, such a proud Scottie. She will be terribly missed.

Time for a little break...

The kids and I are packing up the car with gifts, treats and dog bones to go visit more family in the Berkshires for a few days.
They are very excited for their last road trip of 2008. Me, I am excited to be off duty from "my real job" for three days, for the ability to go to Borders and to be able to purchase gas for under 2 dollars/gallon. Island life is wonderful, but it has its disadvantages too.
I leave you with some images from a fun shoot in November. Carly is a rescued greyhound, her sweet brother Teddy, a cockapoo. The photos were a surprise for Teddy's mom. I have heard through the grapevine that she is very pleased with them......I love my job. They are such great dogs, so different from each other; the best of friends. What a blast we had!
Stay tuned for changes to this blog in the next few weeks. I want bigger photos, bigger everything so I am changing it up a bit......my fellow photographer friends have given me a little info about a different host so that I can make the photos big, bigger, biggest...the way I like them.
Please, as a reminder, all photos on this blog are copyrighted. They are my property.
Please do not copy, reproduce these photos in any form. If you would like a print for your personal use, you are welcome to contact me.
Happy 2009 everyone!

Merry after Christmas

What a beautiful Christmas. Hope everyone had a wonderful day filled with family, friends, love and yummy treats. As you can see, we had a gorgeous brilliant day here in the middle of the Atlantic. I think the dogs would have preferred snow but they managed to still enjoy themselves.
I so missed the mark with focus on one of these but I had to show you all 'cause it is one of the best examples of my little girl Sophie's personality. She is such a spitfire....She was completely egging on her brother to try to grab her stick.
I am so excited to post photos in the upcoming days from my surprise shoots in the past month......now that the holiday is passed, I can share with you some great images of these beautiful dogs.
Stay tuned for photos of Teddy and Carly, and a family of 4 hysterical pooches.

Ok, Ok we got it already

Christmas cheer has been slow in its approach to the Carey household this year.  However, a certain 21 month old golden and his 5 year old sister have decided it is time.
No more futzing about;  there is a tree to decorate, there are cookies to be made and there will be much jingling of bells.
It is amazing how that sound coupled with smells of cinnamon, chocolate and cloves will put you in the mood for the holidays.

"sigh"

"I love you Momma."
"I love you too, Zachy."
When I first brought home my little boy, he would not look me in the eye. I was sad the first time I saw him; kept his head down, seemed unsure.
Took a bit of time, a lot of love, a lot of play and look where we are. I love that he looks at me with those sweet brown eyes. I could photograph him all day every day. Maybe I will....

My girl

Oh, I hate rainy days when I am missing my girl.
Found this photo this morning....it was taken with a cell phone, so excuse me please if it comes out a bit grainy in the post.
This photo was taken on a glorious afternoon just before my sweet girl lost her fight with cancer.
I miss her terribly and this photo makes me cry and laugh simultaneously.
She was so beautiful, so affectionate, so damn charming, and the greatest cookie snagger!
I miss you my Char Char

Sweet champion girl

I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to meet Miss Emma, a champion Scottie who is sadly battling cancer.
Her parents asked me to photograph her on a beautiful Cape Cod Saturday afternoon.
She played with us at the beach, chased seagulls, alerted a kayaker that the beach was hers, and then she introduced me to her three Scottie siblings. She never let on that she wasn't feeling well.
Her parents are absolutely head over heels for her. She has been their pride and joy.
I keep Emma in my thoughts daily and hope that she continues to fight as hard as she can.
She is a beauty through and through. Thanks Deb and Charlie for the opportunity to meet all of you and share an afternoon with your wonderful family.

Christmas cards

Holiday cards are very important in my house. (Not those big huge gold emblazoned ones you get from your corporation, etc.) I am talking about the ones that you put your heart into. I love receiving a great one;  one that catches your attention and makes you say "awwww". My cousins Joe and Ciarla (and their two gorgeous boys) always send me the most exceptional Christmas cards.  Usually it is of a photo she has taken of them;  the font is always perfect, the wording meaningful. I am going to aspire to be one of those "great card givers".
I  had a hard time choosing from one of these three photos for my cards this year.
The bottom one I really really wanted to use....(only to the people I am very close to of course!) Suffice to say, the top one won out.
I was working on Christmas cards for some of you folks yesterday; I know you are going to love them!

Strolling pup

Even puppies stroll...
Nantucket Stroll is a beautiful event every December.
We were blessed with great weather and lots of dog lovers downtown.
I met up with Eukilis, his mom and grandmother  to grab some Christmas themed photos for his holiday "hey, check out how gorgeous I am" cards.
We managed to grab a few cuties in between all the affection he was being shown.
Hard to walk by this guy and not want to play.

Dupree, Zion and Homer

Three very sweet boys, belonging to two beautiful sisters. Dupree is fourteen years young, Zion and Homer are nine.  Dupree is a momma's boy all the way...adores her, always looking for her, always at the ready for some lovin'. He has many breeds within: bull terrier, chow chow, husky, great dane; this is to name just a few.
Homer is Dupree's litte brother, a yellow lab. Zion is their cousin, combination border collie, husky, lab and shepherd.
Each of these boys has quite the personality; all of them were so much fun and very energetic!
The chuckit ball I had in my pocket quickly became Homer and Zion's obsession.

just can't get enough

He is unstoppable.
Loves that ball. Will do anything to get to play with that ball.
He came home to me a bit shy, missing a bit of that big boy confidence. Well, confidence is no longer an issue.
Such a good boy...
All play, all the time; so much fun.

How many can you find?

How many goldens are in this picture? I have to admit when I took it, I did not realize that little rascal was trying to get some fame also. Sophie felt like some photos today, she doesn't usually like the camera. Beautiful day here on the rock, high 50's. (Hey to us New Englanders, that is wonderful on the first day of December). Check out my little girl's curly ears...I don't know what I love more about her, those ears or those eyes with perpetual stars in them.
May you all have a bit of golden light and your own form of golden love...
