Emma

I will be posting later in the week about this sweet girl, a Scottie named Emma.
Sweet dreams....

Sunshine and Sammy

I am a dog girl. Probably not the most politically correct or business-wise statement to make as a pet photographer, but I am all about being honest. LOVE dogs. However, these kids, Sammy and Sunshine, have changed me. I am a new girl. Cats are pretty darn cool after all.  After I figured out that whistling wasn't going to get much attention, we settled into a groove.
These cats are funny, affectionate and entertaining.
Their mommies are fabulous and we had a great afternoon out by the ocean in Squam. I would be pretty  affectionate too if I led a life like theirs!

anticipation

Three shoots over three days. Love it. Love my clients. Love their families. Love their pets.
I tried to give the family I photographed on Thursday some dog treats, but they weren't interested. I had to rework my approach and after engaging in some regular pitched conversation, we had a blast.
Stay tuned for a peek at this gorgeous family, including three generations of strong, beautiful Nantucket women.
(What was that? Yes, of course this is Zach, anxiously awaiting the next chuckit ball launch....)

Thanks...

I will make this list as short as possible.
The long version of what I am thankful for would be extraordinary.
I will narrow it down to 10 as most of you who are reading my blog don't have that much time...no particular order (except for the first three)
1. My incredibly beautiful, supportive and sassy mother
2. that she has been healing so beautifully from two surgeries back to back in the last 2 weeks (thank you skilled physicians and thank you good chemistry)
3. the incredible friendships I have maintained, as well as the wonderful people who have recently entered my life in so many different ways
4. Smartwool socks
5. the sweet babies that I love so much, Sophie and Zach
6. coffee
7. Scott Kelby (if you are reading this, do you want to get married?)
8. tennis balls
9. teamwork (I love you guys: NCH ER staff and TJL's team)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone....

some more glass

So as I am continuing my quest to find the perfect lens set up, I decided to try out this little baby.
Great lens. My gal Jamie just got herself this little number as well.
Got some great shots 2 days ago with the 4 pups I was photographing.  (Shhhhh....can't show you yet.....but check out those really cute paws.)  Like it...it is light and has IS. I find that I really appreciate the lenses with IS especially on a typical Nantucket day when the wind is about 30-35mph, oh and like when I am chasing four dogs in said wind.
Just as Jamie said, nice and sharp. Yup, would love the 2.8 but I am thinking this is a great alternative for the $.
Won't be using it though for my next shoot: 2 sweet little kitty cats....another surprise Christmas present.  Did I mention how much I love surprises?

Just another day at the beach...

The early morning snow had melted, the sun was shining brilliantly, but the windchill was still below 20 degrees. We still had fun.
This was surprise #2 for the week....I will give you a tiny sneak peek since I love this photo and quite simply, couldn't resist.

shhhhhh...

I was thinking that I live and work in one of the smallest places on the planet. Sometimes it is wonderful, other times (like this) it is a potential disaster, especially when it comes to those awesome surprises.
My last photoshoot is a big surprise for a wonderful woman that I know and admire.
In the interest of that I have decided to only provide you (for now at least) a little peak at one of the furbabies from Tuesday.
What a sweet little face.

Curious George

This little guy, George, was very interested in me during my visit to Tuppancy yesterday.
He was not at all scared by the camera, and as you can see, readily posed for me.
I am very excited to show you all photos from yesterday's shoot, but since I took so many, it will take me just a bit longer to get them all ready for your viewing pleasure. Suffice to say, I am in love with a beautiful greyhound and her counterpart, a cockapoo. Stay tuned..

Surprises

Surprises are everywhere, aren't they?
I have to admit that I adore surprises (as long as they are the good kind, like wrapped up in B&H or Nordstrom gift wrap LOL)!
This little boy has been one of my biggest surprises this past year.
How lucky I am to have been given the gift of his adoption.
I love you, loverboy.
I have two clients this week who are having photoshoots of their dogs for "surprises".
Love that. Love the thought of capturing a beloved animal for the joy of its owner(s).
Love the prospect of capturing that look, that expression that makes it all worthwhile for a family.
I can't wait.

Bruiser and Lulu

Bruiser and Lulu are both seven years young beautiful pugs. I had such a great time with them and their Mom on Halloween at Jetties Beach. They have visited more countries in Europe than I could ever hope to. Bruiser was hit by a car while living in Dublin, and has a cranial nerve injury that makes it difficult to mobilize his tongue. In true dog fashion, he plays and grabs balls as if there was never an injury.
Lulu is petite, somewhat more reserved (except when chasing seagulls in her pink tutu outfit) and a little love bug.
Their Mom thinks they are exceptional. I have to agree with her.
What a wonderful opportunity I had to meet them all.

sneak peek

Well my very much awaited photoshoot with pugs extraordinaire Bruiser and Lulu took place on beautiful Halloween afternoon. Here is a sneak peek of Bruiser; such a handsome boy.
They have a wonderful life story and I will be sure to fill you all in later.
