We are moving...

No, no not what you are thinking. The dogs and I love our Nantucket and will be staying right here but our blog is moving. Long overdue. Blogger has been good to us, but not as good to you, our wonderful clients and readers, who are having a hard time posting and following.
New logo is in the works as well as some spiffy new branding materials for Charlotte Carey Photography and I figured this is the optimum time to change up the blog.
Stay tuned, link to new digs coming this week!

more Hazel infatuation

Can't stand it...she is just so cute.
I hear she is settling into her new home beautifully and her Mom falls more in love with her each day.
Here is a bit more from our beautiful Sunday evening shoot in downtown Nantucket.

cavapoo extraordinaire

I  must admit I am a big dog girl. Labs, goldens, danes, you get the picture. All dogs are fabulous, but the larger breeds make me swoon.
However this little one has melted my heart. Her name is Hazel and she is a cavapoo (cavalier and poodle).  What a personality and what an incredible desire for all sorts of play. I expected her to be somewhat shy, somewhat reserved. Hah! She had me chasing her all over the place.  I was so worried I would step on her...she is 4.6 pounds!
She and her Mom already have  a special bond. Mom is the ultimate glamour girl and it appears that Hazel is quickly following suit.
May you two have the longest and most wonderful life together....

slow but steady

Spring is just taking its own sweet time for us up here in New England, however,
the tulip bulbs I planted in November are starting to poke their way out of the cold ground.
I am crazy excited about these since I planted them all over the yard in memory of my girl, Charlotte.
I am expecting them to be pretty mature by the time I arrive back from Atlanta.
Let's hope the deer don't get to them first as they seem to be pretty hungry these days.
With the promise of Spring comes the promise of plenty of great beach days ahead, and lots of cool beach action.
So with that in mind, I added Harold to my camera bag today and can't wait to take him with me on some upcoming adventures. For now, he will have to wait; and I will continue to wait for that first beautiful tulip.

Rainy Sundays

Rainy Sundays are such a great excuse...to be lazy.
Not today  though for us, lots to do. New changes for us around here including some subtle changes to the blog and the website.  The dogs wanted a more active part in the blog, so I have arranged for them to pop on here and there. They will share their thoughts on the best new products in petland that make their life so happy.  I am happy to share that I am attending Learnfest 2009 in Atlanta next week. Very, very exciting...I have heard great things about this workshop.
I think as a photographer, particularly a new photographer, education is so crucial.
I am excited to learn, get inspired and meet other photographers who are passionate about their art and their individual success.
In the meantime, will leave you with some recent photos of some cuties this winter.
Henry makes his home in Provincetown and Mr Bruin is an islander.
Have a great rest of the weekend and we will be back soon!

Spring is coming...

Crocuses (croci?) are blooming, birdies are singing, and days are longer and just a tad warmer.
It looks like we may have a nice Spring this year if today was an example of what is to come.
We celebrated Zach's second birthday today at Tupancy Links here on Nantucket.
Tupancy (for short) is essentially Nantucket's version of dog heaven. Wide open field with a long walking trail, views of the Atlantic and usually plenty of pups to play with.
Friends, both human and canine, came to play, enjoy the sun, laugh, play fetch and even welcome a brand new puppy, Trigger, to the gang.
Zach was overjoyed to say the least.

together is always best

So sweet, such good friends.
Otis and Eloise.
You guys made my belly hurt for 2 days; I laughed so hard.

Eloise

Love this name. Eloise is sweet, petite and wears her name well.
What a little beauty.
I have heard her Mom on many occasions raving about her, now I understand why.
She is just a little beauty and has only pushed me deeper into pug heaven.

behind but yet ahead

I have been a terrible blogger. So behind in posting but trust me, still having fun with the kids and acquiring many new photos to share.
In the upcoming days, the promised photos of Henry and our trip to the outer Cape will be posted and  I also will be sharing from a session this past Monday. Otis the Cairn Terrier and Eloise the Pug will be making their first appearrances on the blog, but probably not the last.
Here is a peek..

I will be back, I promise; in the meantime, I am sneaking  in one of my favorites of Sophie.

change in plans

The weather bordered on Spring like yesterday...such a treat before heading back to the reality of today which is snow, sleet, ice, wind gusting to 45mph and bitter cold.
Here is a small morsel of the gorgeous light that exists even in the dead of winter at the end of Cape Cod.
More to follow....

Journeys

Sophie and Zach have been begging me to go on an adventure; they are a bit tired with this winter already.
So we packed up the car, travelled across the ocean on the ferry (2 1/4 hours long...ughh, my least favorite part of the trip) and went across the outer Cape to see what was going on.
We visited this place where we met Henry and his Mom and then visited an incredible beach in Osterville. There are not many days in August that were as pretty as this evening on this beach.
Will post plenty of photos in the next few days as we are all a bit tired tonight.

Neglect

My 40D is staying in....it is too cold. It is way too slippery and snowy and  I am too clumsy. Besides, I have neglected my little Canon point and shoot far too long. Charged up her little battery, put in a new little teeny memory card (only 256MB!!!! as compared to my big girl CF cards) and shoved her in my pocket.
But not before setting her up with manual settings...c'mon you gotta do this right people. What a great little camera she has been. Took her to Venice last year, and in November, a cooworker of mine borrowed her for a trip to Africa.  The point and shoot definitely has a place in every photographer's bag of tricks, particularly when travelling, or in interesting weather.
Wow! Just a  beautiful morning despite the frigid cold.
Sometimes I think snow is to dogs what catnip is to kitties.

Sophie sweet Sophie

She is my little princess...
those eyes tell you everything.
Well, all that you really NEED to know such as:
"I hope we are going out"
or "I hope you will snuggle with me on the couch like I love"
or "I love you"
Oh, I wish everyone could see these twinkly eyes in person....
Happy snowy Monday!

Boston Bruin

He is adorable....
mix of black lab and shepherd. J and B brought him home from Rhode Island just a few weeks ago and are madly in love with him. His name is Bruin.
Took him out to meet his friends, Zach and Sophie yesterday. Not the greatest of weather days here on the sandbar but we still had a great time.
He is very intelligent, very attentive and a lovebug.
Can't wait to watch this little guy grow up.
